It’s 4:30 AM in Kaltenbach. Our adventure "Sunrise high above the Zillertal" begins.
It’s hard to put the magic of a sunrise in the Tyrolean mountains into words. It’s the peaceful silence of the early morning that gently fills the air. The fresh scent of mountain air and a cool breeze accompany the ascent – and even though you might question why you left your warm bed so early during the sometimes strenuous climb, you quickly realize it’s worth every step.
With headlamps lighting the way, we continue upward along narrow trails until the silhouette of the Gipfelkreuz on Gedrechter, the highest peak in Kaltenbach, appears on the horizon. Once at the top, a deep feeling of gratitude sets in—these precious moments at such a breathtaking place are truly special. And then, as the first rays of sunlight touch the Kitzbühel Alps and illuminate the Zillertal, the magic unfolds. It’s a natural spectacle that stays with you forever.
