Is there a discount card for excursions in the Zillertal?
The Zillertal Activcard is the perfect discount card for your holiday from late May to early October. It offers numerous benefits and makes your stay in the Zillertal even more exciting:
- One daily round-trip ticket for one of the 10 summer mountain lifts in the Zillertal of your choice.
- Free use of most public transport in the region.
- We will be happy to advise you on-site whether purchasing the Zillertal Activcard is worthwhile, depending on your planned activities and the current weather conditions.
- Important to know: Unlike many other holiday regions, the Zillertal Summer Card is not included in the local tax here. This is due to the significantly lower local tax in the Zillertal compared to other holiday destinations.

- Cycling and swimming: The Zillertal Cycle Path runs through the sunny valley, perfect for relaxing bike tours. Numerous lakes and swimming pools offer both refreshment and fun for families with babies and toddlers.
- Mountain lifts and adventure parks: Modern summer mountain lifts make it easy to ascend to the mountains, where family-friendly hikes and nature-based adventure parks await, offering exciting experiences for children and unforgettable moments in nature. These parks also feature some of the best playgrounds in the Zillertal.

- Bike depot: We offer what is probably the most beautiful bike depot in Tyrol, equipped with 22 bike lifts from Biohort and charging stations for e-bikes.
- Bike rental: High-quality bikes from the brand Corratec are available for rent (for a fee). We also offer bikes in different sizes for children.
- E-bike rental: For those who want to try an e-bike, we offer high-quality models for rent through our partner Sport Stock (only 350 meters away).
- Bike maintenance: We provide a washing station and a repair area to keep your bike in top condition.
- Safe storage: Your bike trailer can be securely stored in a dedicated area.
Where can you go hiking in Kaltenbach and the Zillertal?
- The Zillertal, with its wide valley floor and five side valleys, is one of the most beautiful hiking regions in Austria. There is a wide variety of hiking routes here, ranging from leisurely scenic hikes to challenging mountain tours.
- For an active holiday with mountain hikes, we recommend arriving by car or using the summer mountain lifts. Stephan, our local mountain guide, offers the best advice and will be happy to accompany you on a guided hike.
- Good equipment is essential – especially comfortable hiking shoes and weatherproof clothing. As a hiking hotel in Tyrol, we provide our guests with trekking poles, backpacks, and snow spikes for late winter hikes or sudden winter weather.
- Tip: For all athletes and active holidaymakers planning a hiking holiday in Tyrol, we especially recommend spring and autumn. During this time, we offer attractive packages in our sports hotel, such as the "Bergfeuer" package and the "Autumn Adventure" in the golden autumn of the Zillertal.
What is not necessary to bring for a summer holiday with children?
Travel stress-free in summer! To reduce luggage and save space in your car or SUV, we offer extensive and high-quality children’s and baby equipment at our family hotel. Feel free to inform us about your needs for the little ones before your arrival so we can make your holiday even more enjoyable:
- Stroller or buggy: You don’t need to bring your own stroller – we provide high-quality strollers for free.
- Child carriers: For enjoyable hikes in the mountains, we offer child carriers.
- Cycling with children: The Zillertal Cycle Path is a real highlight for families. We provide children’s bikes in 16-inch and 20-inch sizes from the brand Corratec.
- Self-service laundry room: Our laundry room is especially practical for families with children and babies, so you can stay flexible and stress-free.
How can I entertain my teenage children?
In addition to our Game Zone with fantastic games and an attractive outdoor area in the family hotel, there are plenty of exciting activities that will provide adrenaline and excitement:
- Canyoning and rafting: Action is guaranteed! For an unforgettable adventure, we recommend the Freiluft Akademie, which ensures a perfect holiday experience.
- Nature experience at the Hintertux Glacier: At 3,250 meters, the Nature Ice Arena awaits – a fascinating natural experience.
- Via ferratas in the Zillertal: Particularly the Schlegeis 131 via ferrata with its Flying Fox, Giant Swing, and many other attractions is a highlight for teenagers.

Where are the best shopping options? Are there attractive cities?
- Mayrhofen, the most famous town in the Zillertal, offers excellent shopping opportunities and is just 17 km from Kaltenbach.
