SKIING IN TYROL
So close to the powder snow! The Hotel Kaltenbach is just 350 metres from the Hochzillertal valley station (the cable car operates from 07:30 a.m.). For all of you who prefer things to be even more comfortable, we have a shuttle service to ta station of the cable line. Right at the valley station your ski equipment awaits in a private ski spint! In the „Zillertal Arena“, „Ski Zillertal 3000“ and Hintertuxer Glacier ski areas ski buses and cable cars operate from Kaltenbach several times a day.

WINTER HIKING
Those of you prefer to enjoy the winter landscape away from the pistes, ought to take part in the regular snowshoe hikes with your host Stephan Haas. As a qualified mountain guide he knows the best spots and takes you out into the natural surroundings to experience the winter magic for yourself. The routes proceed through deep snow-covered woodlands, fields and an unspoilt landscape – you will find the tranquillity and relaxation that you need here. For alternative, the zillertal also offers numerous winter hiking trails, where you can experience the unique natural scenery up clos. New! Winter hiking trail from the mountain station hochzillertal to the Albergo viewing platform at Wimbachkopf. For experienced hikers there is a spectacular winter hiking trail to the Wedelhütte.
SKI SCHOOL IN ZILLERTAL
Every beginning is hard – at least that’s what they say. However, the ski schools in the Zillertal provide a gentle and adequate start to skiing. For advanced users, ongoing technical trainings and driving safety courses are very interesting. In individual or group training, the technique, posture and driving safety are worked on. With us you can easily book a ski course or ski instructor via our partner Ski school Keiler. Whether for beginners, advanced or newcomers. In group or individual training. The courses can be booked comfortably online and are therefore ideally integrated into your holiday planning.
FREERIDING
The Hochzillertal - Hochfügen ski area is THE sought-after freeriding hotspot in the Zillertal valley. Here keen freeriders get to experience unspoilt deep snow slopes and pure freedom! The highlight in a winter holiday is the annual Freeride Qualifier Tour „Big Mountain“. But away from the pistes you ought not to forget about safety. We organise one of the most recognised ski and mountain guides in Tyrol for our guests - Stefan Wierer looks after you and takes you through the inspirational mountains, showing you the best slopes.
TOBOGGANING FUN
A speedy tobogganing session with a refreshment stop in an alpine inn afterwards is part and parcel of a great winter holiday! On the Hainzberg (around 8 km away) is the longest toboggan run in the Zillertal valley. Zip down the mountain with family and friends over 7 km – fun you will well remember later. There are more toboggan runs in Fügen at the Spieljochbahn (5,5 km), Goglhof (3.5 km) and Hochfügen (1.5 km).
CROSS COUNTRY SKIING
Kaltenbach with its broad, sunny basin and surrounding mountains is also very suitable for cross-country skiing and ski hiking. Access to the 53 kilometres of pistes is just 200 metres from the Hotel Kaltenbach. This time-proven winter sport offers a lovely change from alpine skiing. With the high altitude trails in Hochzillertal and Hochfügen ski areas, snow is guaranteed and there is nothing to stand in the way of cross-country skiing. The most important cross-country skiing centre in the region is only 30 minutes by car from our spa hotel in austria. The Achensee region around Tyrols largest lake offers unrestricted cross-country skiing enjoyment with more than 200 kilometers of trails.
