CASTLE TRATZBERG

Renaissance jewel among the castles of Austria was first mentioned in documents in the 13th century and served as former border festivals against Bavaria already Emperor Maximilian I as a hunting lodge. The Crystal Worlds Wattens were created in 1995 by the multimedia artist André Heller the famous Crystal Worlds in Wattens. Around the mighty giant, which guards the entrance of the Crystal Worlds, stretches a 7.5-hectare garden landscape with numerous attractions, a garden with black mirrored water, play tower for the children with playground and labyrinth. The heart of the plant: the interior of the giant with its 16 mystical chambers of wonder. The town of Wattens is located about 40 km from Kaltenbach and is easily accessible via the A12 motorway.

In Mayrhofen, around 17 km from ‘Das Kaltenbach’, you get to take a tour of the first milk and cheese street in Tyrol. Through the windows of the show dairy, you have the opportunity to take a look over the shoulder of the master cheesemaker and watch the high art of cheese making.
